Itinerary

Upon arrival at Balikpapan Sepinggang Airport , your guide will meet you transfer to Samboja Lestari’s lodge. Once a depleted rainforest, it’s now a thriving conservation site by the BOS Foundation. Explore nature trails, spot diverse wildlife, and engage in conservation activities alongside local staff. Enjoy the world’s largest sun bear project and an orangutan rehabilitation center.

Embark on a 2-hour journey to Loa Janan, nestled along the Mahakam River. Stay aboard on a unique houseboat Experience the river’s transformation from a bustling urban waterway near Samarinda to a tranquil rural setting further inland. Witness daily life along the riverbanks, from fishing and laundry to encounters with floating toilets. Enjoy meals prepared by the houseboat cook as you immerse yourself in the Mahakam’s rich tapestry of life.

Embark on an exciting journey starting with a tour of Muara Muntai Wooden village. Then Continue cross Jempang Lake via motorized kayak to reach the Mancong Dayak tribe’s longhouse settlement. Along Ohong creek, spot proboscis monkeys, macaques, leaf monkeys, and jungle birds. Explore Mancong village and experience Dayaq Benuaq tribe’s culture, including a mystic ceremony in an ancient Dayak longhouse. Back to you boat and overnight.

Start your day with a glimpse of Melak town along the river bank, a bustling trade hub connecting Kalimantan’s interior and coast. Travel through the rainforest highlands to Eheng village, home to around 35 families of the Dayak Tunjung tribe residing in a historic longhouse.

Then, by car through scenic slopes and jungle valleys to Kersik Luway National Park, renowned for its diverse orchid and pitcher plant species, including the rare black orchid if luck is on your side.

A downstream cruise on the Mahakam River, heading towards Tenggarong, the historic capital of the Kutai Sultanate.

After breakfast onboard as the boat docks in Tenggarong, a vibrant hub steeped in the history of an ancient Borneo sultanate. Explore the riverbanks adorned with statues and cultural artifacts, showcasing the rich tapestry of Borneo’s heritage.

Youur journey continues downstream to Loa Janan. Afterward, by car to Balikpapan airport for your onward destination
