Itinerary

Upon arrival in Jayapura by morning flight, you will be met by your local assistant to help you for the next flight to Wamena..

Upon arrival in Wamena, you’ll be transferred to Baliem Pilamo Hotel. After check-in, start your exploration with a drive to Aikima village, located in the northern part of the Baliem Valley. Here, you’ll encounter the Dani people, observing them working in their sweet potato fields and engaging in their daily activities. The tour includes a scenic hike through pine forests, crossing the Aike River via a bridge, and arriving at Suroba village. This 1-2 hour hike will take you through the beautiful countryside and traditional Dani houses. In the late afternoon, return to Wamena

After breakfast, head to Jiwika in the central Baliem Valley for a day filled with cultural experiences. Upon arrival in the village, you’ll be warmly welcomed by the Dani tribe members, who will be dressed in their traditional attire to honor your visit. One of the highlights of the day is a “Mock Battle,” a unique and captivating event that showcases the traditional warfare techniques of the Dani people. This vibrant display, accompanied by traditional dance, is a photographer’s dream and an unforgettable experience.

Then visit Sumpaima village, where you’ll have the chance to see the famous mummy of the Dugum clan, proudly displayed by the locals. After exploring nearby picturesque hamlets, heading to the Kontilola Cave, a massive cavern partially collapsed, creating a lush, vegetated environment inside. Along the way, you’ll have opportunities to purchase local arts, crafts, weapons, and curiosities. A packed lunch will be provided during the day, and after our exploration, return to the hotel
