KOROWAI – TREE HOUSE ADVENTURE 11 DAYS / 10 NIGHTS
Day 01 : JAYAPURA ON ARRIVAL
Arrive at Sentani airport. Meeting service then transfer to the waiting room to wait connect flight to Wamena. Welcome to Wamena. Transfer to hotel for accommodation. The rest of the day is free for individual activities.
Day 02 : WAMENA EXCURSION
Morning drive to Kurulu, walking up to the salt spring on the Mili Mountain (an hour walking). Local Dani women will demonstrate how to make salt in traditional way. Walking down then visit the village close by to see the Mummy while awaiting the Dani people preparing the traditional pig festival. After seeing festival leave the village and drive direct to hotel.
Day 03 : WMENA – YANIRUMA (KOROWAI)
Transfer to Wamena airport, then by charter flight departure to Yaniruma. A remote jungle air strip. After arrival settle then near the village. Preparation for our expedition next day. All meals will provided by your guide.
Day 4-6: TREE HOUSE EXPEDITION
We planning for four days excursion to explore the Korowai tribe (Tree House People) with their traditional houses. The Korowai people are famous with their tree house and Sago Warm Festival. First day excursion need four hours walking to reach the first complex of Korowai people then overnight here. Next day excursion will pass thru flat low land jungle and swampy. We will reach another complex of Tree house, sometimes their 30 to 50 meters high. Here our local guide will organize and call the Korowai people, then local porter will speak in their dialect to prepare the typical jungle festival next day.
Day 07 : SAGO WARM FESTIFAL
They will cut Sago tree then processing while another of them collect Sago Warms for the Jungle Sago Festival. All the activities we will join with them. These activities is the highlight of every trip in Papua.
Day 08 : WALKING BACK TO YANIRUMA
Leisure walking back to Yaniruma on different way thru jungle. We will pass some tree house more. Late afternoon arrive and settle tent near the village.
Day 09 : YANIRUMA – WAMENA
Fling back by charter flight to Wamena. On arrival transfer direct to hotel. End of Tree House Expedition. Afternoon free for individual activities.
Day 10 : WAMENA - JAYAPURA
Morning at leisure till transfer to Wamena Airport for onward flight to Jayapura.
Day 11 : JAYAPURA ON DEPARTURE
Morning at leisure till departure to Sentani Airport for onward flight to next destination
