SOUTHERN BALLIEM VALLEY TREKKING 10 DAYS / 9 NIGHTS
DAY 01 : JAYAPURA ARRIVAL (L,D)
Arrive at Sentani airport of Jayapura, meeting service and then short transfer to hotel. After take a rest, visiting Sentani lake by boat to see the local people how to make the local arts and Anthropology Museum. Lunch have at a local restaurant. Afternoon visiting Mc. Arthur monument of Ifar Gunung, then back to hotel.
DAY 02 : JAYAPURA - WAMENA (B,L,D)
After breakfast, transfer to airport for your flight to Wamena, Arrive at Wamena, transfer to your hotel then by car 30 minutes to visit Dani village of Suroba & Jiwika to see the Dani people community life and culture including the 250 year old Mummy. Lunch have at Wamena town. After lunch visiting Napua hill and traditional market. Afternoon back to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 03 : WAMENA - KURIMA - HITUGI (B,L,D)
Breakfast at hotel then by car 40 minutes to Sogokmo in the South of Baliem Valley. From here start your trekking with your guide, cook and local porters to Hitugi with passing hanging bridge over Baliem River and Dani sweet potatoes gardens. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of Baliem George. Lunch serve near small rivers. After 5 hours trekking arrive at Hitugi village where you will have dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 04 : HITUGI - WUSEREM (B,L,D)
From Hitugi village trek down 2,5 hour for the first section till Mugi river. Lunch serve near river. After lunch continue trek another 3 hours to Wusrem village thru Dani traditional house and you may meet local people on the way and have time to discuss with them Afternoon arrive at Wuserem and explorer surrounding. Dinner and overnight at church of Wusrem villages.
DAY 05 : WUSEREM - PUKAM (BL,D)
The next morning after breakfast continue trekking to Pukam village. Today's walk will be very hard with up and down hills. You are proceed to cross a river where you may have lunch and refresh yourself in the river. The way to Pukam Village from the river will pass a small rain forest and the air will be a little humid. Dinner and overnight in local guest house of Pukam. (Walk approx. 6 - 7 hours)
DAY 06 : PUKAM - WESAGALEP (B.L.D)
After breakfast, leaving Pukam to the next one, Wesagalep. The village located over the mountain and the walk will be uphill. Shorter than the day before, passing through another small rain forest and sweet potato fields. Lunch and dinner will serve by cook. Overnight at church of Wesagalep village. (Walk approx. 4 hours)
DAY 07 : WESAGALEP - TANGMA (B,L,D)
Today trek will be 6-7 hours from Wesagalep village descending a very steep hill all the way down to Baliem river gorge. Spectacular scenery, gentle local people, and beautiful terraced sweet potato fields you will see on the way down. Lunch serverd by the cook near Baliem river. After crossing the suspension bridge, the uphill trail leads you to Tangma, the next village. Dinner and overnight at local house of Tangma.
DAY 08 : TANGMA - KURIMA - SOGOKMO - WAMENA (B,L,D)
After breakfast, continue the last trekking day back to Sogokmo climb through Hesegem mountain and down to Kurima before arriving to Sogokmo where the car will take you back to "civilization" of Wamena. Lunch and dinner in town. Overnight stay at Sinakma Elok Cottage or similar of Wamena. (Walk approx. 5,5 hours)
DAY 09: WAMENA - JAYAPURA (B,L,D)
After breakfast at hotel, get flight back to Jayapura. Arrive at Jayapura, short transfer to hotel then driving 1,5 hour to Depapre district, here you may do for snorkling and relax in the good beach. Gril fishes will be served for lunch. Afternoon back to hotel.
DAY 10: JAYAPURA - DEPA RTURE (B)
After having breakfast at hotel, free at leisure until the time proceed to the airport for your next destinations.
